Pre-plan your holiday season payroll

I am sure many of you have already started planning for Christmas and making sure your roster works, and so have I. In my case, I am pre-planning payroll processing for my clients so my team can get a break and payroll gets processed and paid on time.
Payroll processing is relatively simple this year as the Public Holidays fall on Thursday and Friday. The easiest possible times. Only those paying on Thursday or Friday have the complication from the payday falling on the Public Holiday. This means they must be paid on Wednesday BEFORE the public holidays if your bank does not process payments on public holidays.
So, plan this in advance if you do payroll for your farm or clients and the payday is Thursday or Friday. Let everyone know what the plan is and how you are doing to implement it. In our case, most clients give us their roster and estimated hours for those on a casual contract or hourly pay. We pre-process the pay and set payments for Wednesday. We make adjustments if needed in January, as things can always change.
